Mariella Tirotto und »The Blues Federation» really rocked the place during their concert at »Flames»

Her name is Italian, her pass is Dutch, and her German occasionally sounds funny, her blues on the other hand is extremely powerful: Mariella Tirotto can’t be labelled easily. On the stage of Bar »Flames» the female singer and her »Blues Federation» show that blues can contain lots of emotional fuel.

ROTH - » Perhaps you’re wondering: what about the ventilator», Mariella Tirotto says and winks while she explains: gradually her menopause started, so once in a while she is in need of some fresh air.

Funky Latin-stuff

In a business that seems to revolve more and more around appearances, Tirotto’s attitude appears of a charming and refreshing honesty. And that’s also what the music sounds like of this Dutch singer with Italian roots: with a voice, that, in her smoky-raw depths sometimes reminds of the androgenous Pop-Chanteuse Grace Jones (»Slave To The Rhythm»)   , Mariella Tirotto whirls through – amongst others - funky Latin-stuff and strikingly fast Blues-Standards.

Stable Foundation

Further more, the »Blues Federation» featuring guitar-player Harald Koll, Michel de Kok- with sunglasses – on blues harp, bass-player Heins Greten and drummer John Kakiay, not only form a stable rhythmic -and melodic foundation, whereupon Mariëlla Tirotto can build purely phrased melodies, but also act as a distinct source of synergy and inspiration.

Party feeling

In between, the power woman, who, without doubt, is in the limelight, jokes with her audience, flirts with the male guests but also focuses her attention on the women. Tirotto’s extended Blues-concept touches the heart and makes you feel like dancing, appeals to a real party feeling and a Friday night state-of-mind.

The fact that »Flames» wasn’t fully packed with an audience didn’t affect the good mood this combo was in for even a split second.  

With that the »Blues Federation» with her humorous forewoman is recommended for bigger tasks, for instance as support-act on the big stage of the »Kulturfabrik».
